Black Sunday Midsummer Scream 2026 Schedule

Black Sunday Film Festival are once again heading back to spook out Colchester, and this time it’s for a one-day mini-fest. This is the Black Sunday Film Festival Midsummer Scream!

Taking place at the Firstsite Cinema on Saturday, 11th July, the Black Sunday team will be bringing you a day jam-packed with some incredible horror features and short films from some of the best indie filmmakers the world has to offer.

The day is split into four blocks, starting at 10:15am. Each block has one headline feature, with a short film set to play before each (apart from our Cult Film Screening).

To purchase a day pass you will need to add all five screenings to your basket.

Simply select the standard tickets for each screening. Once all five screenings are in your basket the price will automatically be updated. Please note that the discount will only be applied to standard tickets.

Here’s what’s in store:


10:15am – 12:15pm: Deep Water

Dir: Renny Harlin. Starring: Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley, Angus Sampson.

A group of international passengers en route from Los Angeles to Shanghai are forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. Now they must work together in hopes to overcome the frenzy of sharks drawn to the wreckage.

12:45pm – 2:45pm: Match

Dir: Danishka Esterhazy. Starring: Humberly González, Shaeane Jimenez, Dianne Simpson.

After Paola is matched with a handsome online suitor, she arrives for a first date to discover a house full of dark and terrifying secrets.

3:15pm – 5:15pm: We Put The World To Sleep

Dir: Adrian Tofei. Starring: Adrian Tofei, Duru Yücel, Andreea Enciu

Adrian and Duru get lost in the characters they play in an apocalyptic film and embark on a secret mission to end the world for real. Second entry in Adrian Tofei and Duru Yücel’s spiritual trilogy which includes Be My Cat: A Film for Anne (2015) and Pure.

5:45pm – 7:45pm: Appofeniacs

Dir: Chris Marrs Piliero. Starring: Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler, Sean Gunn.

The use of AI technology reaches its most violent and bloody conclusion after a series of deepfake videos are unleashed into the world.

6:30pm – 8:30pm: Cult Film Secret Screening
