The Black Sunday Film Festival was started in London back in 2018 by Scott Lyus of Crossroad Pictures, with a mission to spread his love of truly independent genre cinema to the wonderful UK horror community.

In 2022, the team made the decision to up sticks and move Black Sunday to Essex, where Scott and his co-founder Chris were born and raised. Since moving, they have expanded the roster of Black Sunday events from just film screenings to filmmaker networking sessions too, to help turn Essex into the next hotbed of horror.

As we move into 2023, Black Sunday will be hosting bi-monthly networking and screening events, culminating in our first Essex-based 3-day film festival, scheduled to take place in Chelmsford in January 2024.
